OPERATION HOME DELIVERY: 'CUE CULTURE SUPPORTS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY EVENT
Dear Wayne,
On behalf of all of us at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, I would like to thank you for smoking and grilling up some great food for our guests and volunteers on May 5th and 6th at our Operation Home Deliver Event. A particular favorite for all of us were Alanah’s Busy Beans as well as the cornbread. We would also like to thank you for coordinating all the details with Michael Cuddy at Wild Oats. You really made it a wonderful event.
As you may already know, the homes arrived safely in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Tuesday, May 9th, in the early afternoon. The trucks were welcomed by several members of the Hattiesburg Habitat for Humanity affiliate, including the future homeowners. Through the generosity of our community we were able to send two house shells, including wall panels, siding roofing materials, and roof trusses as well as $55,000.00 in cash which will be used to complete the houses. In a letter received after the event the Hattiesburg Executive Director said, “I want to thank you and the countless other individuals and groups from the great state of Maine for your unbelievable generosity…the families that will live in these homes and the rest of us who have had our hearts warmed by the love you have shown for others will never forget you.” The families should be able to move into their completed homes by the fall.
Through the past couple of years you have become an invaluable partner in our mission to build simple, decent and affordable housing. We are looking forward to working with you again this fall for Raise the Roof 2006: Bluegrass & Barbecue, an event that simply would not be complete without your fantastic sauce and unmatched barbecuing skills.
Sincerely,
Stephen L. Bolton
